Dear Target Management:

My name is Mia Kosmas, and I am a 4th-5th grade student teacher at Northshoreview Montessori Elementary School in San Mateo, California.  A few weeks ago, I taught a lesson to my 5th grade GATE students  titled, “What makes a good business”. Throughout this lesson we discussed as a class things like social responsibility, giving back to the community, caring about ones customers and its employees, as well as other good business traits.
In the minds of a 5th grader, Target exceeded all of the standards of what makes a business a good business.  This was not surprising to me as a teacher because of all of the wonderful things that Target does for the community. What did surprise me; however, was how the students reacted to the “Clean Cart” cart cleaning machine.  Several students commented on the wonderful benefits of this machine, and how they applauded your company for taking a stand in cart cleanliness.
In my experience as a teacher, I have found that all children want to believe that they have a voice. All students want to believe that their opinions matter, and that they are taken seriously regardless of their young age.  The students wanted me to send you these letters. The students wrote these letters to thank you for maintaining a good business, and for caring about their health with the addition of this Clean Cart, cart cleaning machine.
I also wanted to thank you for providing a service that limits harsh germ exposure. As a teacher, I am always sick. When I get sick, it affects the progress of my students.  I am so grateful for your new service, and hope to see these cart cleaning machines in other Target stores. Thank you for taking the lead in cart cleaning, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

With Gratitude,
Mia Kosmas,
4th- 5th Student Teacher
